Open Day Workshop: Self-Sufficiency in a Suburban Permaculture Garden

Come and discover how much food you can grow in an ordinary suburban garden with Jill from @lifeisanorganicgarden!

At first glance, Jill’s Tokai garden looks like a beautiful flower garden. But take a closer look, and you’ll discover something else growing amongst the blooms — fruit, berries, herbs, tomatoes and an amazing variety of vegetables, all tucked into the spaces between the flowers.

In this relaxed, hands-on workshop, Jill will share how she transformed her garden into a productive, living food garden, growing more than 50 different fruits and vegetables and supplying much of what her family needs throughout the year.

You’ll learn how to get started with simple no-dig and organic permaculture methods, make your own compost and mulch, feed your soil naturally, and work with your garden rather than against it.

You’ll also discover how saving your own seeds can help your garden become more self-sustaining from one season to the next — saving you money while creating plants that are well adapted to your own garden.

Whether you have a tiny garden, a few pots or a whole backyard, come along for inspiration, practical ideas and plenty of encouragement to start growing your own food.
