‬Ben is serious‭, ‬committed‭, ‬and forthright which makes him a fantastic asset on tasks that need to be accomplished with speed and quality and often require feedback/on the job decision making‭. ‬On the farm‭, ‬Ben is great at all our field work tasks and in the event’s space‭, ‬he is a go to for making sure everything is ready for the public‭. ‬

Carol is smart‭, ‬organised‭, ‬efficient‭, ‬and loves her maths‭; ‬all characteristics that have made her the core of our wash/pack setup‭. ‬She is a natural systems person and is able to keep track of the chaos that we and our chef customers throw at her with a calm and competent demeanour‭. ‬In the field‭, ‬she’s our fastest transplanter‭, ‬an efficient harvester‭, ‬and a joyful presence with her phenomenal laugh and fantastic attitude‭. ‬

With the perfect blend of speed and attention to detail‭, ‬Cassiem is an easy choice for almost any job on the farm‭. ‬Soft‭ ‬spoken‭, ‬steady‭, ‬and respectful of those around him‭, ‬everyone on the team enjoys working with Cassiem‭. ‬Probably our fastest harvester‭, ‬the best propagation mix maker‭, ‬one of the most efficient at all field tasks‭, ‬and now‭, ‬taking on more of the farm irrigation setup‭, ‬Cassiem is a key player in our ability to farm well‭. ‬

A natural green thumb‭, ‬Johannes has been a student of plants and gardens for decades‭. ‬He has an immense knowledge of plants‭, ‬insects‭, ‬and farm related topics and a continuous thirst to learn more‭; ‬with all this insight‭, ‬we almost always put the more obscure and unique farm tasks on his to do list‭. ‬Also very handy around tools‭, ‬irrigation‭, ‬and vehicles‭, ‬Johannes is a real‭ ‬jack of all trades‭. ‬Almost always smiling‭, ‬forever wise‭, ‬we love our farm days with Johannes‭. ‬

‬Always one step ahead‭, ‬Mac is full of hustle‭, ‬commitment‭, ‬and great attitude‭. ‬He came on board to help Martin with our events space and has shown us over and over that he is willing and able to take on any task with eagerness‭. ‬Mac’s always there with a warm greeting‭, ‬hustling from place to place‭. ‬If there’s anyone who perpetually stands on the balls of his feet‭, ‬it’s Mac‭. ‬Complement this with a lightness and easy personality‭, ‬it’s easy to see why Mac is a favourite choice by all for a work partner‭. ‬

Jenna manages our Longhouse Restaurant. She is passionate about nature, community, and creating wholesome, meaningful experiences. With a longstanding interest in plants and sustainable food production, she loves exploring the journey from soil to plate and bringing that connection to life through memorable dining experiences, thoughtful hospitality, and impeccable service.

A self-confessed science nerd (and that might be an understatement!), Jenna is fascinated by the finer details of organic food production, from soil science and microbiology to the incredible bioactive compounds that make good food so much more than just a meal. She believes that a genuine connection to what we grow, serve, and share can make every dining experience that little bit more special.

Above all, Jenna loves making people feel welcome. Whether you have a question, need a helping hand, or simply fancy a friendly chat, she’s always happy to help — and will greet you with a smile!

Jéanelle is a hosting-with-the-mosting kinda gal. A creative with a plaas meisie heart, she has a natural knack for making guests feel at home and creating spaces that feel soulful, welcoming and connected to their surroundings.With a background in graphic design and creative direction, she’s found a happy home here at Meuse as our Maître d’, bringing together her love for design, atmosphere, food, wine and hospitality to shape the wider Meuse experience, from the visual details to the moments guests remember.Beyond her sparkle on the floor, Jeanelle is passionate about bringing the farm-to-table story to life, celebrating the care, science and craft behind growing food well, and its journey from soil to plate.You can’t miss her blonde bob or her well-practised swan effect on the floor!

Leah handles both marketing and events at Meuse Farm, which means she promotes the farm and also helps plan public dining nights, private celebrations, and just about anything else that happens here. Before Meuse, she was a software developer, so she still can’t look at a process without wanting to build a system for it (spreadsheets, mostly, a love her friends have teased her about for years). Leaving the tech world for an organic farm turned out to be a great change, and she loves learning about the farm from Iming, Chef Caidi, and the farmers. She specifically finds interest in the indigenous South African plants we grow... ask her why she loves Prenia vanrensburgii! She is also passionate about championing local, unique South African winemakers whose values align with ours; her current favourite on our menu is the Anysbos Disdit-- order it next time you dine with us!

Judith keeps the operational gears turning, handling administration, workflow design, and financial operations. She loves working alongside a team built on shared values and a genuine commitment to sustainable farming. Content to contribute behind the scenes, Judith finds a surprisingly deep satisfaction in taming endless spreadsheets if it helps support work that leaves a positive mark on the land.

Farm chef extraordinaire‭, ‬Caitlin never ceases to impress us with the menu she concocts using our crop lists throughout‭ ‬the season‭. ‬She came to us as a private chef looking for farming experience and then stuck around for events as we found a myriad of ways to utilise her many talents‭. ‬We’re not quite sure how her super organised nature handles the chaos and our oftentimes ridiculous farm setup but we sure are glad‭ ‬she’s able to as she’s the perfect chef for our farm‭.‬

Jaco’s life took a rather sharp turn when he met Iming‭. ‬Before his better sense could get him off this train‭, ‬he found himself in talks about holding turkeys and sitting atop a tractor and wondering happily where his Excel spreadsheets had gone‭. ‬The repetitive‭ ‬details of farming are not for him but Jaco has discovered that the farm can suck in any free time he has‭- ‬from making sure golf‭ ‬carts are working‭, ‬sourcing everything for our events space‭, ‬building beautiful longtables and the structure of our longtable building‭, ‬to harrowing beds‭. ‬His clarity of thought‭, ‬natural entrepreneurship skills‭, ‬and yes‭, ‬Excel talents‭, ‬remind us to peer out from on top of the forest of weeds to retain a plan for where we are going‭.

A lifelong lover of biology, plants, animals, nature, systems, and growing food with a real knack for always being dirty, Iming found her vocation in farming. Everything about farming well, in conjunction with nature, fascinates her- from peering into soil science, figuring out cover crops that work for this farm, exploring interesting hedgerow plants, chatting to chefs and people who love food, continuously learning about how plants have played a role in art/medicine/food/fabric/craft, to hoeing and more. She is giddy that she has found this lens to the world and gets to figure out how to make it a viable business.

Quiet and steady, Martin was always unfazed by the often eclectic, sometimes absurd, and generally last-minute nature of the building tasks we threw at him. Everything he touched was done with great quality, phenomenal insight, creativity, and pride.

From our beautiful events buildings and the surrounding decks to the simple benches for our open days—and always including those last-minute roofs or doors to keep bees out of the kitchens—Martin’s talent continually surpassed our expectations. Completely understated and humble, he was the true craftsman of the farm. We remember him with deep gratitude, and his memory lives on in the very structures that shelter our community.
